Without Each Other
I walked the path tonight alone;
Halfmoon light showing my way.
Two feet, where four should be.
Two hands, without two to hold.
Alone: Two; without each other.
Near the end I turned my back;
Giving up what I most would miss.
A dream gone, without waking.
A promise gone, with a heartbreaking.
She will not come back. My woman gone.
Now I see the past clearly;
A path I cannot tread again.
Secrets given, now kept tight.
Dreams shared, now slept at night.
Regrets and mistakes keep forever.
