Please email me if I've done a bad job making up and answering questions.
Where do you get your ideas?
I get ideas and inspiration from stories, mostly fairy tales, I read, songs, other artists' work, dreams, friends, etc. Pretty normal stuff...
I've always been drawing, but 10 years in my school district's Talented Art program (TA) has helped. My instructors haven't given me any talents, they just help enhance what I already have (kinda like a Wonderbra)....
I always start with a rough pencil sketch in my sketchbook (I pick them up from various places). If I like it, I develop it, then ink it. By that time the paper quality has decreased b/c of erasing, etc., so I pull out my giant lightbox that I made and trace it onto watercolor paper or Bristol board, or I use carbon and tracing paper to transfer the drawing.
Regular #2 pencils, Copic and Micron pens (just got a Neopiko), Prismacolor markers and color pencils, Grumbacher watercolors, Faber-Castell watercolor pencils, Bristol, watercolor paper, many brushes, and as much sanity as I can muster. A pretty penny there. I occasionally use Adobe and MS Paint for some simple stuff.
Experiment with a lot of styles. I can compare two consecutive sketchbooks and be amazed at my development. I cannot say enough times that you need to study anatomy. It makes a great difference.
Do you do commissions?
Of course I do. I'm normally only commissioned for still lifes or portraits but I'll do anything.
I currently accept cash, check, and PayPal. I am a verified PayPal user.
What programs do you use to build your site?
I write my own codes, which are borrowed. I use rydia.net for hosting; it's like $70 a year for an enormous amount of space and domain. Killer.
Taught myself back in 6th or 7th grade. I used multiple resources and the only one I remember is WebMonkey.
