This is one of my favorites ^_^ In Chinese mythology, the phoenix and the dragon represent the yin and yang, and the empress and the emperor, female and male, etc. I'm not sure which corresponds to which >_< I wanted to put all those scattered bits of knowledge into a picture. The phoenix turned out a lot more Russian looking than Chinese. Which I suppose makes sense, since I'm Russian and was in love with the firebirds of Russian mythology when I was little...
