Updates:

13 April 2004

Sharm: It's so good to have this computer connected to the net again! Uploaded the new background images, I hope you like them. I'm going for a partchment look, if you couldn't tell. The color is "#EFDA97" or very close to it. I'm not messing with the style sheets just yet. I've got art to do! Thanks for the great updates while I was gone!

12 April 2004

MoD: Uploaded the Names text file. Please add to it, and we can eventually move things over to the character page.

9 April 2004

MoD: This is a must read. Especially the posts by EUOL on the second page. The Timewaster's Guide Forum: Mainstream Fantasy.

I added an outline document to the server; you should be able to find it easily. I've been assigned to submit an outline to the Abridged Speculists (my writing group), and it needs to be submitted by Monday. I'm planning on either submitting the outline of chapter one and the high-level outline of the first book, or the completed version of chapter one. Whether or not I finish the first chapter kind of depends on how much feedback I can get from you, and whether or not the words come quickly. Ideally, I'd like your okay on the outline before I start writing and your okay on the chapter before I submit it to the writing group, but that means you'll need to respond quickly so I don't lose momentum. ^_-

We can discuss all of this on Saturday, but I wanted to post it here as well.

I added "Status" to the character attributes list, which you will understand once you have a chance to look at the outline.

7 April 2004

MoD: Ooooh!! I just had a great idea! What if we start the story when Treyva's memories of how her parents died is coming back to her? And that's why Sharm comes back, because she feels the spell unraveling. Maybe Treyva cuts the magic line on herself. Maybe a lesson in the school. What do you think?

5 April 2004

MoD: Added Friday's updates. There's two definitions of td in the style sheet to handle the example of plain background. I also changed the color to Exp Tan3 at Fox's request. I needed another opinion, since you haven't been online. And I trust Fox's aesthetic instincts. You can look at the page on Saturday when you come over (because your monitor can be untrustworthy).

Fox also suggested a light purple background (the color of the text on book.gif) with dark gold lettering, which I will play with when I get a chance. May not be for a while due to the fact that I am way behind in editing Steve's thesis.

4 April 2004

MoD: Wahoo!! I made us a style sheet for all of the stories pages!! I've only used it on this page. The links are funny colors so you can see what the hover and active commands do (for the active command, use your tab button). I put the style sheet file in the stories folder, since it should be applied to all of the html pages with the "book" style, and the old html is saved as old. We could also take the the paper & book gifs out of the isle folders because we'd only need to refer to them in one spot (images folder). Please let me know what you think. As soon as you get internet access. . . .

Did I get too technical?

I forgot Friday's updates on my computer at work, so I will upload those tomorrow.

2 April 2004

MoD: Fox suggested a solid color for the insides of the table, instead of the pattern. If you look closely, you can see the pattern behind the words, and it doesn't line up with the pattern on the table. I've tried the solid color on this portion to give us both an idea of how it looks. In the table summary I added the color codes for the different colors I tried. This Is Exp Tan2. (4/5 Not anymore--see note above). I put all of the codes in because I had to do the tweaking through Paint and Calculator. *MoD wishes she had Photoshop.

My next project is to start on style sheets, as they will stand us both in good stead. Especially when we need to tweak the color scheme.

For the borders around the text, I'd like to look into some kind of gif, etc. For an example of this look at the 8-bit theater main page.

1 April 2004

MoD: Started on the character page. Reformated Treyva, Zondrak and Noan, and rewrote Zondrak, added to Noan. I'd like to protest your ownership of human Kyre!! My character interacts with him quite a bit, so we probably ought to coordinate so that we both have a fairly good feeling for his personality.

Feel free to add to the character attributes list. I was thinking of adding "build," but in reality all of my characters are slender. Though, I guess Noan is muscular. What do you think?

30 March 2004

MoD: Sharm, just wanted to post somewhere what has been updated. I figured this is as good a spot as any. I was planning on working on the character page, but I realized my previous work is at work, which isn't very helpful. Instead, I got distracted by our Magic College page. I added some classes and switched the order around a bit. Most significantly, I took out the notes about certain aspects of a class being prerequisites to others. None of that is really necessary, given that all of the courses have to be taken in order anyway. I saved the original version as teachinold.html. Feel free to continue tweaking and post your changes up here. (MOD stands for Mistress of Darkness, my avatar).
